What is My Accident – Injury – Crash Lawyer Supposed to Do?

It’s frustrating to agree to pay for some work to be done and the person who agrees to it doesn’t. I see this all the time with my clients who’ve fired billboard/TV lawyers. They are frustrated because they first meet with some person who gets them to sign papers, they talk to the lawyer, maybe, they don’t know the answers to questions that pile up quickly and all they get is a “case manager” or a secretary! Where’s the “personal” in a personal injury lawyer like that? As you know, high volume works for jelly beans and ball bearings but it doesn’t work with a injured human being who’s got a wrecked car, truck or bike and questions. You’ve never been through something like this, you need questions answered, paperwork filed and problems solved.

Here’s a list of what you should get from your injury – accident – crash lawyer:

1. Handle your property damage –  Billboard/TV lawyers’ dirty little secret is YOU talk to the professional adjuster when negotiating your repair or replacement. Who do you think will negotiate a better deal with the adjuster? A lawyer or you? And WHY are you talking to the company of the person who injured you? Won’t they try to take advantage of you? (Answer: Yes it’s will.)

2.Talk to the insurance company–  You don’t do this everyday.  Why are you supposed to make these calls? You are not familiar with the “jargon” and what’s expected for you to do. You’re injured and are supposed to be recovering. This is the lawyers job.

3. Submit your lost wages– There are a whole lot of “I’s” and “T’s” that need to be dotted and crossed.  You have never been through this and

4. Do the paperwork – Unless you do medical and insurance paperwork in your day job, this mountain of paperwork and  is the lawyer’s job.  You don’t know what to tell them.  Your lawyer should be doing this.

5. Figure out the best steps for you to take – My kind of lawyer is a problem solver.  I have helped my clients get Jacuzzi spa, ramps for their wheelchairs,  avoid paying outrageous hospital bills, helping them put away their verdict money for their grandchildren.  It’s not a “wham-bam-thank-you-Sam” relationship. You’ve got problems, your lawyer needs to get with you on the phone, Skype, text, Twitter and help you find solutions for the problems from your case.  If he or she is not, you’re getting less of what you paid for.

Billboard/TV lawyers mishandling your personal injury case

Insurance companies know that Billboard/TV lawyers simply don’t have enough lawyers to prepare, review, work up and take all of their client’s cases to trial. Insurance companies therefore almost always settle their cases with Billboard/TV lawyers for what the insurance company wants to pay, not what the case is worth. Billboard/TV lawyers are simply high-volume “mills” for low-value settlements.

Lawyers, like any professionals, can severely affect your life. A bad medical doctor can cripple you. A bad accountant can take your all your money. A bad architect or engineer can design a building that collapses killing everyone.

Why would you get such a professional from a billboard or a television ad?

If you (or someone you know) made the mistake of hiring a billboard/t.v. lawyer and that lawyer pressured you to settle your case for less than what it should have received, call me.

  • A headache that gets worse and does not go away.
  • Weakness, numbness or decreased coordination.
  • Repeated vomiting or nausea.
  • Slurred speech.

  • has convulsions or seizures.
  • cannot recognize people or places.
  • is getting more and more confused, restless, or agitated.
